There is / there are / there was / there were, there will beetc. Complétez les phrases suivantes avec l'expression appropriée. Portez attention à la forme (affirmative, interrogative, négative) de chacune d'elles.

1. (+) There is/are a lot of clouds in the sky today. (au choix selon qu'on accorde avec a lot ou avec clouds)

2. (?) Are there many immigrants in your country? (question générale = présent simple)

3. (-) There will not be many people at the match tomorrow. (tomorrow renvoie à l'avenir)

4. Is there going to be a bird-flue epidemic, do you think?. (le choix de be going to vs will sera expliqué plus tard)

5. (+) There were so many people in the store, it was impossible to get in . (was indique qu'on est dans un contexte passé de narration)

6. Where's last week's magazine? – I threw it away, there was nothing interesting in it. (threw indique aussi un renvoi au passé)

7. Do you know how many books there were in the school library last year? (Last year renvoie au passé)

8. How much money was there in the victim's account before she disappeared? (disappeared renvoie au passé)
